2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Small School TE Getting Round 1 Buzz?
The NFL Draft is still in the distant future, but the true difference-maker in a player’s draft stock is determined by their on-field performance during the regular season. “But how can I track all the highlights throughout college football each week?”, you may ask. If that is you, you came to the right place!
Each week during the college football season, I will bring to you an NFL Draft Stock Report, sharing the most significant draft information gathered from the previous week’s college football action. As the season goes on, we will focus in on players whose stock is continuously soaring and making a case to be an early to mid-round selection.
As always, be sure to share your thoughts on these prospects in the comment section below, but without further adieu, here are the most notable performances affecting the 2025 NFL Draft landscape from this past week’s action.
Mykel Williams | EDGE | Georgia
Georgia’s defense was in the backfield all night against the Longhorns, but perhaps the most notable performance was that of Mykel Williams. Williams has been nursing an ankle sprain which has limited him all season, but we finally saw flashes of his explosion on Saturday, as he came away with two key sacks in the Bulldogs’ big win over Texas. Once Williams returns to full health, he could quickly become one of the household names at the position once again.
Jalen Royals | WR | Utah State
In this week’s shootout loss to New Mexico, Royals enjoyed yet another eye-popping performance, catching 11 passes for 188 yards and 1 touchdown. Wide receivers coach Kyle Cefalo has done a wonderful job investing extra time into Royals, as his route-running and route depth accuracy have greatly improved since his freshman season. His combination of speed and quickness in the open field provide enough intrigue to his game for scouts to give him Day 2 consideration.
Harold Fannin, Jr. | TE | Bowling Green
The fans of Fannin continue to increase in number by the week, as he is quickly separating himself as one of the most explosive playmakers in this draft class. At 6’4”, 230 pounds, the Bowling Green product is dominating inferior competition, having already caught 60 passes for over 850 yards, and this week against Kent State, he had another double-digit reception day, bringing in 10 passes for 171 yards. Fannin’s athleticism is too much for most linebackers to handle in the open field, and his size creates a mismatch of its own against the majority of defensive backs. His name continues to rise on draft boards, and I firmly believe he has a shot to go in Round 1 with strong testing numbers.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland | EDGE | Virginia Tech
Powell-Ryland is a Florida transfer playing in his fifth year of eligibility, but he is having his best year to date. Tied for the FBS lead with 11 sacks on the season, Powell-Ryland notched 7 solo tackles this Saturday while also recording his second 4-sack game of the season. With great hand-usage and leg drive, Ryland is an impressive power rusher who can get to the quarterback multiple different ways. Despite lacking elite length, Powell-Ryland does a great job shedding blocks and closing on ball-carriers in the backfield. With solid athletic testing, he could easily hear his name called on Day 2 of the draft.
