2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Power 4 Defenders Steal the Show in Week 9
The NFL Draft is still in the distant future, but the true difference-maker in a player’s draft stock is determined by their on-field performance during the regular season. “But how can I track all the highlights throughout college football each week?”, you may ask. If that is you, you came to the right place!
Each week during the college football season, I will bring to you an NFL Draft Stock Report, sharing the most significant draft information gathered from the previous week’s college football action. As the season goes on, we will focus in on players whose stock is continuously soaring and making a case to be an early to mid-round selection.
As always, be sure to share your thoughts on these prospects in the comment section below, but without further adieu, here are the most notable performances affecting the 2025 NFL Draft landscape from this past week’s action.
Gabe Jacas | EDGE | Illinois
Jacas is not a known commodity, but he has quietly become one of the Big Ten’s brightest defensive stars. He may not have elite length for the EDGE in the NFL, but his explosiveness is impressive for a 275-pound pass rusher. Jacas has now recorded at least one sack in 5 of the last 6 games, and 4 of those games in which he had a sack were against ranked teams. He was a big part in Illinois’ defensive dominance against Michigan two weeks ago, and this past weekend against Oregon, Jacas added another sack to the stat sheet. He is a name on the rise in scouting circles, and Illinois’ upcoming matchup against Minnesota will be another great opportunity for him to shine
Malachi Moore | DB | Alabama
The versatile defender for the Crimson Tide has been a stable part of an Alabama team that has been up and down over the last month, and this Saturday against Missouri, he delivered once again in their shutout win against Missouri. Moore contributed 4 tackles, 1 pass defended, and 1 interception during the contest, giving him two consecutive games with a pick. Moore can play cornerback as well as either safety spot, and there is no major weakness in his game. His combination of coverage and tackling ability will make him a Day 1 starter in the NFL, and I fully anticipate his name being called within the first two rounds of the draft.
Brennan Presley | WR | Oklahoma State
It has been a rough season for the Cowboys, but amidst all the struggles and woes, they have found a bright spot in the emergence of wide receiver Brennan Presley. Presley has been a consistent piece in the offense all season, but he became the primary target of the offense last week against Baylor, hauling in 15 catches for 183 yards and 1 touchdown. At 5’8″, 175 pounds, Presley is not going to win with physicality, but he is quicker than greased lightning in the open field, and his route running has taken a significant step forward this season. In a deep class of pass catchers, Presley will likely be a Day 3 selection, but in the right offense, Presley can become a key contributor early in his career.
