2024 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 5 vs. Dallas Cowboys
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2024 regular season schedule, by week.

Analysis: If you’ve been following these schedule breakdowns, you’ll know I have the Steelers going a perfect 4-0 to start the season. As we all know, this is the easier part of the team’s schedule, and with this being just their second home game of the season I like the Steelers here as well. Throw in the fact it’s a Sunday Night Football game, and now you have some extra gas thrown on the fire.
Yes, the Cowboys were a playoff team last year.
Yes, the Dallas roster is among the league’s best.
But there is something about this Cowboys team which doesn’t pass the eye test. They don’t have a true identity on offense, and while their defense is anchored with big-name players, you have to wonder why the team did so little to improve the roster in free agency. Throw in Dak Prescott’s injury history, and you can look at this Week 5 game and wonder what the starting rosters might look like at Acrisure Stadium.
Despite my prediction of having the Steelers starting out of the gate fast, their winning games didn’t necessarily mean the team was clicking on all cylinders. I expect the early stages of the season will be rough at times, but it is at this Week 5 mark where you start to see some real progress happening. Start to get a glimpse of what this team could become. I think the find a way to beat the Cowboys at home in prime time.
Prediction: Steelers 23, Cowboys 20
