2024 Steelers Schedule Preview: Week 4 at Indianapolis Colts
It’s the official lull of the NFL offseason, and that means it provides enough time to go over things which you might not have time to dive into when the news and storylines are rampant. One of the things which is always something I want to do is an in-depth preview on the schedule. When the schedule gets released it involves a very knee jerk reaction from the fan base, but not a lot of introspection happens once the dust settles.
Well, if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This is the detailed breakdown of the Steelers 2024 regular season schedule, by week.
Week 4: at Indianapolis Colts
Date: Sunday, September 29th
Time: 1:00pm EST
TV: CBS Sports
Last Meeting: 12/16/23 – Colts 30, Steelers 17
Overall Series Record: Steelers lead 27-7-0
2023 Records:
Steelers: 10-7
Colts: 9-8
Early Betting Lines: Colts -1.5 / O/U: 44.5 / Moneyline: Steelers +102
Projected Starting QB Matchup: Anthony Richardson vs. Russell Wilson
Analysis: Last season the loss to the Indianapolis Colts was a turning point for the Steelers. With Kenny Pickett out with injury, it was Mitch Trubisky who got the start, and failed yet again. At the very end of the game, in garbage time, the Steelers turned the offense over to Mason Rudolph. Rudolph would never lose that job for the duration of the regular season.
But the loss to the Colts was awful for more than just who was at quarterback. The Colts, without Anthony Richardson, were able to do whatever they wanted on offense. The moved the ball with ease, and who can forget the drive where they ran the ball the entire drive, and only faltered when the offense was put in the hands of Gardner Minshew.
Looking ahead to 2024, Minshew is now the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, and Anthony Richardson is supposed to be the quarterback for the franchise. Could this actually work in the Steelers favor? With this game being in Week 4, Richardson, who missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury, will still have some growing pains when it comes to getting acclimated at the NFL level. I fully expect some rookie-like mistakes by Richardson, and ones the Steelers take advantage of on the road.
Historically speaking, the Steelers have owned the Colts, and it seems right that the Steelers get back to those winning ways vs. Indianapolis.
Prediction: Steelers 31, Colts 20
