2 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Thursday’s practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field again at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday for their second official practice of Week 1. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin briefly addressed the media informally. Although he was asked about the quarterbacks, I am going to do my best to bring another players mentioned article. Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period after setting things up with part of his opening statement.

Russell Wilson

In Coach Tomlin‘s opening statement, he gave an update on quarterback Russell Wilson.

“Russell Wilson was a limited participant today. His calf got tight, so we wanted to exercise some precaution. We’ll see what tomorrow looks like and kind of go from there.”

Coach Tomlin was asked if he has concerns with the long-term effects of Wilson’s calf injury.

“None.”

Coach Tomlin was asked when Wilson reported the tightness in his calf, which he chose not to answer.

“He was a limited participant.”

Coach Tomlin was asked if it was the same calf that was injured during training camp.

“Yes.”

Coach Tomlin was asked how the potential injury to Wilson impacts their game planning.

“It really doesn’t at all, to be honest with you.”

Coach Tomlin was asked if Wilson will get his calf looked at by medical professionals.

“We probably will just to exercise an abundance of caution.”

Justin Fields

Coach Tomlin was asked about Justin Fields’ readiness if he were to have to play Sunday.

“I’m completely comfortable if that is the case, certainly.”
