In his press conference on Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did not rule out either player, but spoke as if Nick Herbig and Zach Frazier would not likely be available this week. Missing the last two games, linebacker Nick Herbig is continuing to deal with a hamstring. As for center Zach Frazier, he missed the last game with an ankle injury. As expected, neither of these players practiced on Thursday.

Two players who missed the Steelers last game due to injury but were potentially coming back are Cordarrelle Patterson and Damontae Kazee. On Thursday, Kazee was back at a full participant with his ankle injury while Patterson was limited in his first action back from hurting his ankle against the Colts.

Another player who missed last week’s game but was deemed to be more about missing practice time than the injury itself was rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson. On Thursday, Wilson did not participate in practice due to his hamstring injury, increasing the likelihood it keeps him out of the Steelers lineup again on Monday night.

Another player who did not practice on Thursday was DeShon Elliott with a back injury. It is not known at this time the extent of the injury and if it will affect his status for Week 8.

Two players who are coming back from the Reserve/Injured List and are within their 21-day window are linebacker Tyler Matakevich, who just rejoined the Steelers for practice on Thursday, and Dylan Cook, who returned last week. On Thursday, Matakevich was a limited participant while Cook was a full participant.

After missing a large portion of the Steelers Week 7 game against the New York Jets, Donte Jackson is listed on the injured report with his shoulder injury. But on Thursday, Jackson was a full participant and is looking to get back on the field on Monday night.

A previously unknown injury which showed up on the list was defensive tackle Keeanu Benton who is dealing with a calf injury. On Thursday, Benton was limited and it is unknown at this time if his injury is lingering from something previously or popped up on Thursday.

The final name on the Steelers injury list is Cam Heyward who got the day off on Thursday for rest. Heyward typically receives Thursdays off, and sometimes even Wednesdays, before returning to practice for the week.
