Stalemate Over: Nick Robertson Re-Signs With Toronto
As much as he has been vocal about wanting a change of scenery, Nick Robertson re-signs with the Maple Leafs, on a one-year extension for $875,000.
Robertson has spent parts of the last 4 years with the Maple Leafs, along with being in the minor leagues and being on the injured list. Robertson has competed in just under 100 total NHL games, but he has spent a lot of time with the big club.
Robertson was vocal about not returning to the Maple Leafs, due to the lack of ice time he has been receiving. Having always been playing in the bottom six, Robertson clearly wanted more opportunity.
Over the offseason, Robertson had been in contact with Leafs GM Brad Treliving, and over that time Treliving convinced Robertson that there is a lot of opportunity on the left wing in Toronto’s forward group. Ultimately, this fact must have convinced Robertson enough to resign with the club, giving it one more chance to shine at the NHL level.
Analysts expect the Leafs to also go out and add former Canadien and Capital, Max Pacioretty, along with finally confirming the signing of defender Jani Hakanpaa.
