White Sox lose 6-3, their 14th in a row, again

If you even decided to watch, the Chicago White Sox were swept by the Seattle Mariners with a 6-3 loss. This is their 14th straight loss in a row, which has now happened for the second time this season. They are 27-81 as we approach the end of July, and now cannot finish above .500 on the season officially. They are also yet to win a game since before the All-Star break. I think we got all of the facts out of the way, so let’s see how this one turned out.

Garrett Crochet was on the mound for what might be his last game in a White Sox uniform. Although at this rate, who knows since Chris Getz has been quiet thus far. It wasn’t the best outing, as the Mariners offense has awaken against our pitching staff the last few days. Randy Arozarena had a one out single, followed by Cal Raleigh hitting a home run to left to give the Mariners the quick 2-0 cushion. The top of the second wasn’t any better, as Dylan Moore and Mitch Haniger reached base to lead to runners on the corners. Unable to get the double play on a grounder to Nicky Lopez, a run scored to extend the inning. In the third inning, two Paul DeJong errors at third base cost the team two more runs, expanding the lead to 5-0 now.

Back-to-back two-out singles from Korey Lee and Nicky Lopez led to a Tommy Pham single to put the team on the board in the third inning against starter Bryce Miller.

Crochet would get pulled after just three innings with six hits, three earned runs, one walk, and three strikeouts. His ERA moves to 3.23 as he picks up the loss. Chad Kuhl started the top of the fourth inning, allowing a ground-rule double to Victor Robles, walk to Arozarena, and single to Raleigh to extend the lead to 6-1. Luckily no more damage happened in the inning, but I think six runs was already too much to come back from with this team.

Paul DeJong had a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for his 18th of the year in what has been an outstanding year for him offensively.

Other than that, what positives can you pull from this game? Other than the fact that AJ Pierzynski was mentioned in possible manager talks, it’s been more of the same today. All the words that I can say have been said, and there can’t be much more to say. They have now broke another record, being the only team in the American League to have two 14 game losing streaks in the same season. This keeps their pace at only 41 wins on the season, which would be the worst record in MLB history. With a loss tomorrow against the Kansas City Royals, they can break a franchise record with their 15th straight loss in a row. Unbearable and unbelievable. We will see you tomorrow for another day of suffering.
