White Sox lose, 13-7, their 20th in a row

The Chicago White Sox have lost their 20th game in a row, and their losing streak is now almost old enough to legally drink! In all seriousness, we are witnessing history in the worst way possible. At least the offense scored some runs today, but it’s never going to be enough when your pitching staff and bullpen give up 13 runs.

Chris Flexen got the start, and was mauled right off the bat to drop to 2-11 on the season. That record surely reflects his game because he went only 1 2/3 innings pitched with seven hits, six earned runs, three walks, and one home run. The Twins had a two run first, followed by a six run second. This included a bit of everything like a Willi Castro double, Royce Lewis home run, and Matt Wallner triple.

Handing it over to any bullpen in the second inning is never good but especially when it’s our bullpen, they could have posted the final score tweet right then and there. The team attempted to come back after an Andrew Vaughn double and Lenyn Sosa single in the top of the third off of Simeon Woods-Richardson to cut the lead to just six runs early on! Brooks Baldwin had an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning and Andrew Benintendi had a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to cut it closer to a 8-5 lead.

Of course, the random bullpen names started to pop up and the Twins rallied against a mix of Prelander Berroa and Fraser Ellard. A passed ball and sacrifice fly added two more for the Twins, but Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Vaughn had back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the lead to 10-7. This comes after this.

Steven Wilson started the bottom of the eighth and induced a bases loaded walk and a single, which quickly expanded the lead to 13-7. The walk would be the 9th of the day for the White Sox pitching staff. From there the game was obviously won by the Twins.

We are getting really close to baseball history in the worst way. That 24 game losing streak is losing progressively closer, and with the team and situation they are trotting out there everyday I can confidently say I don’t see a win in the schedule. I’d be surprised if this team won 10 more games all season.

To go along with that, we also have this because of course.

Tomorrow the team will play in Oakland for the last series ever, and this will be their best chance to win. They make the 46-67 A’s look good though, next to their 27-87 record. Will 100 losses come before 30 wins? Will they lose 24 in a row for MLB history, will Pedro Grifol still be here come tomorrow? All of the burning questions you want to ask for your favorite baseball team. Game time is at 8:40 p.m. CT tomorrow, and MLB Network will also be airing it along with NBCSCHI because this is just a can’t-miss matchup.
