The White Sox selected the versatile infielder/outfielder out of Cal State Fullerton in Round 19 (No. 569) of the 2023 MLB Draft. The former Titan doesn’t have the pop of a typical first baseman, but he possesses above-average plate discipline and barrel control skills. With a 12.6 BB% and .346 BABIP, he just finds a way to make contact and get on base.

After only a cup of coffee with the ACL in 2023, this year was the lefthander’s first full professional season. He started with Kannapolis, and his terrific offense helped lead them to a first-half, first-place record of 41-25 and secured them a Carolina League playoff spot. After 78 games and slashing .307/390/.440 with a .830 OPS, Connor earned a promotion to Winston-Salem in July. With the Dash, he hit .269/.335/.394 with a .729 OPS, and while the numbers dipped a bit, he was also closer to the average age of players in the league (0.9). That kind of adjustment makes sense, and his stats, although lesser, were still impressive.

On the defensive end, his play is really solid. This is a first baseman who CAN actually play the outfield. The 24-year-old spent time at first, left, right and DH, seeing the most time at first. Connor made only two errors in 529 chances over 901 innings, for a fielding percentage of .996.

Connor was rewarded for his outstanding all-around season by being selected as a member of the MiLB Single-A end-of-season All-Star team. An on-base type of guy with great defense is a combination I’ll take any day of the week!
