Something good will come out of the Browns game Sunday: Part 2
The Browns may not be in a good position for the postseason down the stretch, but given how the NFL schedule is set to shake out, they have an excellent shot to be in the driver’s seat for drafting highly this coming spring.
With their first first-round pick in hand since 2021, they’re currently slated to select fourth overall. The Jaguars are in pole position. The Giants are next in line. Tennessee is third and the Raiders would draft after the Browns.
That takes care of all the teams which have compiled only two wins. We covered who the Browns have left to play in Part 1, so how do the other teams’ schedules look?
The Jags and Titans play each other twice: first in Nashville Week 14, then in Duval County three weeks later. That sets up nicely for a potential split. And it’s the best shot for them each to get a third win.
The Giants travel to Big D for Week 13 which is winnable — particularly figuring Dak Prescott’s season is in jeopardy if not outright over already after surgery to repair a hamstring. The following week they’ll be home against the Saints; either of those looks to be a reasonable place to pick up W No. 3 for the G-Men.
Looking ahead for the Raiders, they face the Jaguars in Las Vegas Week 16, then head to the Big Easy for their next game. And it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them come out of that stretch with a victory.
No fan of the Browns likes seeing them lose all year. But at least there may be a light on the other side of this lost season.
As for whether or not they’ll know what to do with the pick when they get it, that’s discussed here.
