Smith Jr. Leads Rockets Past Hornets For Third Straight Win
The Houston Rockets picked up their third consecutive win on Monday night during the second night of a back-to-back.
Houston used a strong showing to take a big 114-101 victory over the now 7-22 Charlotte Hornets.
It was Jabari Smith Jr. who led the way for the Rockets scoring 21 points while snagging an impressive 11 rebounds.
Fred VanVleet bounced back from a struggle in Toronto on Sunday as he scored 20 points with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
The Rockets were without Dillion Brooks who missed this game as a late scratch due to ankle soreness.
Starting in his place, Amen Thompson dropped 19 points in 38 minutes. Thompson also had an impressive 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal.
Alperen Sengun was the fourth starting Rocket who found himself in double figures scoring 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Off the bench, it was another eye-popping game from Cam Whitmore who had 17 points and 7 rebounds on 7-15 shooting.
Whitemore has now scored 28 points in the last two games as he is proving that he can be an effective bench weapon at the NBA level.
The Rockets will take the next two days off for Christmas before finishing their road trip on Thursday night when they travel to the big easy to take on the Pelicans.
