Showdown on the 50-Yard Line Between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns

WWE champion Cody Rhodes needed to clear the air with Roman Reigns before their Bad Blood match against the Bloodline.

Last night, Smackdown viewers saw Rhodes and Reigns meet at the 50-yard line of the Georgia Tech football stadium, where Reigns used to play.

After some banter about the city of Atlanta, Rhodes asked if he needed to worry about a sneak attack, because the opponents were members of Reigns’ family.

This was a great question, considering that Cody’s dad, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, would often get pummeled by The Four Horsemen.

Reigns said he would not turn against Rhodes but warned that after the match, Reigns would try to regain the WWE title in a rematch from WrestleMania 40.

NOBODY IS LEAVING

Bayley and Naomi will not be leaving Smackdown. They both pinned WWE women’s champion Nia Jax in a Texas tornado match that also included Tiffany Stratton.

Instead of booking the usual Triple Threat match, Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis said Bayley and Naomi would battle next week for a title shot at Bad Blood.

LA Knight successfully defended the US title in the opening match against Andrade. After the bout, Andrade brawled with Carmelo Hayes, so they are heading for Match No. 6 against each other.

Speaking of rematches, Giovanni Vinci lost to Apollo Crews again. The match didn’t last seven seconds like their first match, but it didn’t go past the two-minute mark, either.

The Bloodline attacked #DIY before the main event, so The Street Profits filled in as Kevin Owens’ partners. The match got out of hand, so the referee declared it a no-contest.

#DIY came to the ring and failed to get revenge, so Cody Rhodes lent the good guys a hand to end the show. Kevin Owens seemed skeptical of the Reigns-Rhodes alliance.
