Sabu’s Retirement Match Coming at WrestleMania Weekend
Sabu appeared at last night’s Game Changer Wrestling show in New York City, and now we know when his legendary career will end.
Joey Janela defeated former ECW champion Masato Tanaka last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom, and then the lights went out.
Sabu appeared when the lights came up, and Janela announced he would face Sabu at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 on WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas.
Continuing that vibe, former ECW stars Super Crazy, Little Guido & Tajiri wrestled in a losing effort against Gringo Loco, Arez & Jack Cartwheel.
NEW GCW CHAMPION
Former partners Effy and Allie Katch faced off for the right to face Mance Warner for the GCW World title.
Unfortunately, Allie suffered a brutal leg injury that stopped the match.
Her injury actually stopped the whole show, because it could not continue until another ambulance arrived at the building to replace the first one.
Effy won the GCW title in the main event after hitting Warner (another old friend) with a guitar.
MORE FICKLE FRIENDSHIP
Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder from WWE) issued an open challenge that was answered three times.
Cardona defeated Tommy Invincible and Micro Man. Then Cardona’s friend Broski Jimmy (who acts like Zack Ryder) turned against him and beat him with the piledriver.
Tom Pestock, who used to wrestle in WWE as Baron Corbin, lost a no-ropes Bloodsport match to former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett.
MORE NEW CHAMPIONS
The Gahbage Daddies (Cole Radrick & Alec Price) defeated Violence Is Forever (Dominick Garrini & Kevin Ku) for the GCW tag team title. VIF held the belts for more than 400 days.
In the pay-per-view opener, Matt Tremont won a Doors, Ladders, and Chairs match to unify the Extreme and Ultraviolent championships. One of the participants, Brandon Kirk, retired after the bout.
PCO IS HERE?
One of the fun things about GCW is that anyone could show up (even me on commentary twice last year). Remember Pierre from the Quebecers tag team?
He’s still wrestling at age 57, and he won the Kickoff Show Rumble. He must not have been happy with TNA Wrestling, because he destroyed his TNA Digital Media title belt after the match.
Megan Bayne defeated Atticus Cogar, which was interesting because she just reappeared in AEW this week. GCW and AEW aren’t on friendly terms these days.
Other results included:
· 1 Called Manders won a six-man scramble match
· Homicide, Grim Reefer & The Amazing Red defeated Tony Deppen, Griffin McCoy & Kerry Morton
· Charles Mason defeated Richard Holliday in a steel cage
· Sidney Akeem beat El Hijo del Vikingo
