Ryan McCullum Takes on “Sexy Dexy”

This week, Ryan McCullum faces a tough task as he prepares to take on Dexter Lawrence, aka “Sexy Dexy.” Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 340 pounds, Lawrence is a force on the field and leads the NFL with nine sacks going into Week 8—an impressive feat for an interior defensive lineman.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and his staff know this matchup won’t be easy. “You’re not gonna get a lot done unless you’re prepared to put four hands on [Lawrence],” said Tomlin. He stressed that preparation is vital for McCullum, who is getting his shot this season.  Tomlin also went on to say, “we better do more than wish Ryan McCullum luck.”

In limited playing time, McCullum has shown he can handle the pressure. Just last week, he squared off against Quinnen Williams, another top-tier defensive tackle. Despite Williams’ reputation, McCullum held his own, preventing significant disruption to the Steelers’ offense.

The Steelers put on an impressive performance, scoring 37 points against the New York Jets, and they aim to build on that success as they face the struggling New York Giants. If the Steelers are the team they aspire to be, they need to dominate this matchup.

As the Steelers prepare for Monday night, many eyes will be on McCullum as he gets ready to battle Lawrence. While McCullum’s performance is crucial, he won’t be the sole factor in the game’s outcome. However, his contribution will be key to keeping the offense effective. If he can keep Lawrence from wreaking havoc, it could make all the difference. I know I’m eager to see how McCullum rises to the occasion in this David vs. Goliath scenario.

As kickoff approaches, the anticipation grows. McCullum’s performance will be critical not only for the game’s outcome but also for his development as a player. The Steelers are looking to dominate and continue building on last week’s success. Here’s hoping Ryan McCullum brings his best game on Monday night—because against “Sexy Dexy,” he’s going to need it!
