Affected by Altitude: Meet Me In Nashville (feat. Paul Holden of Locked on Rockies)

In this week’s new episode of Affected by Altitude, Skyler is once again joined by a friend of the show and host of the Locked on Rockies podcast, Paul Holden. The Winter Meetings get underway in Nashville this week and Paul and Skyler try to speculate whether the Rockies will do anything significant while acknowledging the payroll problems the team has. The Rockies also have top odds to earn the #1 pick in the draft while Todd Helton is on the verge of making the Hall of Fame. The boys round out the show with a quick round of Start, Bench, Cut.

The Rockies aren’t expected to be active during the Winter Meetings in Nashville, rather opting for cheap minor league deals and acquisitions. This is highlighted by the fact the team doesn’t have much roster flexibility and the nature of their payroll creates some problems. Could trades happen with Ryan McMahon, Elias Diaz, or Brendan  Rodgers? Or will the team stand pat and do nothing?

The other notable event to keep an eye on is the Hall of Fame candidacy of Todd Helton. Helton came just 11 votes shy in the previous cycle of voting and aims to be the next Rockie inducted in 2024. A slew of new voters and new votes form existing voters could help his case and push him through to the 75% needed for induction.
