Affected by Altitude Episode 88: AFFCTD BY ALTD (feat. Patrick Lyons of DNVR)

This week, Skyler is joined by Patrick Lyons of DNVR Rockies to talk all about the Rockies’ offseason moves thus far. The team made an early move to boost their starting pitching by acquiring Cal Quantrill from the Cleveland Guardians. They also made several additions to the 40-man roster prior to the Rule-5 Draft while picking up reliever Jalen Beeks from Tampa Bay. They also discuss Patrick’s Rookie of the Year voting ballot and Nolan Jones’ 4th place finish before closing the episode with some transactional hopes for the team this offseason.

The Rockies are in desperate need of pitching and decided to jump on the opportunity to acquire Cal Quantrill. While the price may be a bit steeper than normal, Quantrill provides a major league-ready starter with past success that could boost the Rockies rotation, even in simple terms of eating innings. His contributions will be intriguing if he can stay healthy and stick to his guns and rely on his talent.

The Rookie of the Year voting was also of great interest to Colorado fans as Nolan Jones finished fourth in the voting. Lyons shares that he placed Jones second on his ballot, as they break down the nominees and focus on the potential of the rookies that surfaced for the Rockies in 2023.
