This week, Evan and Skyler discuss expectations and the Colorado Rockies narrative following Dick Monfort’s annual appearance at the Friends of Baseball Breakfast. Unlike in previous years where Monfort has made unrealistic predictions about the team’s record, he did still drop a hyperbolic statement. Monfort praised the Rockies’ defense, believing the team may have the best infield defense in the history of baseball, something that can’t possibly be true, right? He also said the right thing that 2025 would be a year of laying foundation with the younger players moving forward. Meanwhile, the Rockies have finalized their player development, organizational, and coaching staffs for all four minor league affiliates. There are a lot of new faces in some key areas and a lot of familiar faces in new roles throughout the system. Finally, it’s time for another projection. This time, we lay out our very, very, very low expectations for the $182 million man himself: Kris Bryant.

Since joining the Rockies Bryant has been lackluster at the plate and has also dealt with the injuries that have limited him to just 159 games over three seasons. With the plan to deploy him as the DH in 2025, can the Rockies keep him healthy enough to be the slugger they hope him to be, or are the projections too accurate and the team is looking at yet another lost season for the most ill-fated free agent signing in franchise history?
