Affected by Altitude Episode 139: Just ZiPS it

Rocky Mountain Rooftop is the Colorado Rockies affiliate of Fans First Sports Network dedicated to covering all things Rockies. Our flagship podcast Affected by Altitude, hosted by Evan Lang and Skyler Timmins, covers all the happenings of the big league club. Other shows under the RMR banner include Every Rockie Ever and Rooftop Mingle featuring player interviews.

This week, Skyler and Evan discuss the rumor that second baseman Brendan Rodgers and reliever Justin Lawrence being on the trade block. Both have shown flashes of being excellent contributors to a team but between Rodgers’ injury history and average output and Lawrence’s inconsistencies on the mound, it may be hard to find a team willing to move them. Still, if the Rockies have a chance to move one or both of them they definitely need to do so. Meanwhile, FanGraphs has released their ZiPS projections for the Colorado Rockies in 2025 and well… it’s not pretty. However, it does appear to be a step in the right direction? It’s easy to be pessimistic about their chances for 2025 with the early expectations, but the hope is that the team can use them as motivation for improving for the future ahead. We wrap things up by congratulating the Arizona Fall League champion Salt River Rafters, breaking down the performances of Ryan Ritter, Skyler Messinger, and Evan Justice.
