Affected by Altitude Episode 136: Low, Low Prices!

Rocky Mountain Rooftop is the Colorado Rockies affiliate of Fans First Sports Network dedicated to covering all things Rockies. Our flagship podcast Affected by Altitude, hosted by Evan Lang and Skyler Timmins, covers all the happenings of the big league club. Other shows under the RMR banner include Every Rockie Ever and Rooftop Mingle featuring player interviews.

This week, Skyler and Evan discuss the team’s intention to slash payroll for the 2025 season. While it’s not what fans want to hear, the decision does make some sense after losing TV revenue and a natural progression of a younger team with league minimum contracts. Still, will they move on from Cal Quantrill, Austin Gomber, or Brendan Rodgers?

Then, they talk about the extremely Colorado Rockies move of promoting former big league catcher Dustin Garneau to Colorado Rockies bullpen coach. Originally drafted by the Rockies, Garneau spent parts of eight seasons in the big leagues with several teams before retiring in 2022. He has worked as the team’s organizational catching coordinator with an emphasis on game planning for the past two seasons. Will he be able to help the bullpen of young relievers progress in 2025?  Meanwhile, Brenton Doyle has more hardware to display as he wins the Fielding Bible Award for center field with a potential second Gold Glove on the way.

They guys round things out with a discussion on the current state of the World Series between the Dodgers and the Yankees and try to ask the question: is this matchup good for the sport?
