Affected by Altitude Episode: 130: Outnumbered at Home
Rocky Mountain Rooftop is the Colorado Rockies affiliate of Fans First Sports Network dedicated to covering all things Rockies. Our flagship podcast Affected by Altitude, hosted by Evan Lang and Skyler Timmins, covers all the happenings of the big league club. Other shows under the RMR banner include Every Rockie Ever and Rooftop Mingle featuring player interviews.
This week, Skyler and Evan present a conundrum that finally needs to be talked about: the fact that the Colorado Rockies and being frequently outnumbered by a sea of visiting fans at Coors Field. While there is no problem with people being fans of other teams, Coors Field has developed into a home away from home for a vast majority of fans. Chants of MVP reign down on opposing players while frequent chants of “Let’s go [insert team name]” occur. What has this organization done to foster a fan culture that would bring a wave of purple to the ballpark? Winning certainly would help, but will Coors Field ever be a haven for Rockies fans to cheer on winning baseball? On the bright side, Antonio Senzatela is back and the young bullpen has been very impressive, and your High-A Spokane Indians are the Northwest League champions! Additionally, the guys bid farewell to the current City Connects as the Rockies will get a new design in 2025.
