Affected by Altitude Episode 126: Having a Helton of a Time

Rocky Mountain Rooftop is the Colorado Rockies affiliate of Fans First Sports Network dedicated to covering all things Rockies. Our flagship podcast Affected by Altitude, hosted by Evan Lang and Skyler Timmins, covers all the happenings of the big league club. Other shows under the RMR banner include Every Rockie Ever and Rooftop Mingle featuring player interviews.

This week, Skyler and Evan discuss Todd Helton’s special Hall of Fame celebration weekend at Coors Field as the Colorado Rockies honored their All-Time player and wreathed his retired number in gold. They then say farewell to longtime catcher Elias Díaz, who has been released from the team after five seasons due to a rough year of injuries in 2024 that made the move necessary. With the team in need of opportunities to build for 2025 and beyond, releasing their catcher made it possible to call up Drew Romo which, in turn, is another step in a youth movement in the final six weeks. They praise the youngsters for their ongoing positive performances such as Michael Toglia’s evolution, young starting pitchers, and Jordan Beck’s return. They round things out with some general injury housekeeping and praising the team’s farm system rankings.
