Rockets Take Down Pelicans To End Perfect Road Trip
The Houston Rockets had a perfect end to their ideal road trip on Thursday night in New Orleans.
Houston defeated the Pelicans 128-111 to close out an undefeated trip that included stops in Toronto and Charlotte before ending in the Big Easy.
Jalen Green took over this game from the very jump, scoring the Rockets first five points en route to a 30-point night in just 30 minutes of action.
Green’s 30-piece was nearly matched by Fred VanVleet who caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down 8 triples on his way to 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Once again, without Dillion Brooks, Amen Thompson stepped into the starting lineup and had a strong performance, scoring 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.
It was yet another double-double for Alpren Sengun who finished the night with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
However, what will end up as the story of the night will come from a once again depleted Rockets bench.
Without Tari Eason, and with Amen Thompson stepping into the starting lineup, the Rockets bench didn’t miss a beat.
Cam Whitmore scored a resounding 27 points with four rebounds and one assist in yet another strong performance.
Whitmore has now scored 55 points in his last three games after he was recalled from the G League earlier this month.
Notably, the Rockets were able to roll seven players deep off their bench, giving the starting lineup some rest.
That rest will be much needed as the Rockets return home tonight to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves who were resting in Houston last night after taking on Dallas on Christmas Day.
