Rockets Suffer Tough Loss In Sacramento At Hands Of Kings

The Houston Rockets run of three straight games won has officially come to an end on Tuesday night.

Houston fell 120-111 to the Sacramento Kings in the final game of the NBA Cup Group Stage play.

As far as the Cup goes, the loss doesn’t really affect the Rockets too much as they had already cliched West Group A.

With the Group Stage wrapping up on Tuesday night, it was announced that the Rockets will take on the Warriors in the quarterfinal of the Cup next Tuesday or Wednesday at Toyota Center.

The winner of that game will head to Vegas to play in the semi-finals and finals of the second-ever NBA Cup.

Back to what happened on the court on Tuesday night, Houston ultimately just wasn’t able to slow down the Kings in the second half.

At one point, Sacramento hit 12 straight shots en route to a huge run that flipped the game early in the third.

Per usual, Domantas Sabonis (27) and De’Aaron Fox (22) led the Kings to victory. However, all three other starters were also in double figures and finished on the plus side of +/-.

For the Rockets, the young duo of Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun led the way with 28 and 24 respectively.

The rest of the starting lineup struggled immensely as Dillion Brooks had just 8 points, Jabari Smith had 6, and Fred VanVleet contributed 13 while shooting just 1-10 from three.

Houston still sits at 15-7 on the season which is good for second place in the Western Conference just 1.5 games behind the first-place Thunder.

The Rockets will be back in action on Thursday night as they continue their Calfiorina swing when they take on the Warriors.

This will be an early look at what the quarterfinal game will be like next week when Golden State visits the Lone Star State.
