Rockets Fall To Celtics After 4th Quarter Struggles
There aren’t many times you match up with the Boston Celtics and feel like you might have a strong shot to take the game.
However, Friday night could have been one of those times for the Houston Rockets. Boston was on the second night of a back-to-back which saw them take a thriller in Memphis on Thursday.
Not only that but the Celtics were without both Jaylen Brown and Al Horford but it didn’t matter once the clock hit triple zeros.
Houston scored just 14 points in the 4th quarter leading to a big 109-86 win for the Celtics on Friday night at the Toyota Center.
Jalen Green led the way for the Rockets with 27 points on 10/21 shooting with 5 three-pointers on 13 attempts.
Alperen Sengun was the only other Houston player in double figures finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Dillion Brooks and Fred VanVleet combined for just 18 points, any effort that can’t lead to a win against a team like Boston.
Jeff Green made his first start of the season after it was announced before the game that Jabari Smith Jr will miss the next 4-8 weeks with a broken hand.
Smith Jr. suffered the injury in Friday morning’s shootaround forcing Houston to be without a starter for the foreseeable future.
Amen Thompson will take Smith Jr’s place in the starting lineup once he returns from his suspension next game.
Cam Whitmore played 34 minutes off the bench but scored just 11 points shooting just 1-9 from downtown.
The Rockets will return to action tomorrow night when they welcome the Los Angeles Lakers to the Toyota Center.
A matchup with Lebron James comes after he passed Michael Jordan for the most 30-point games in NBA history.
