Rockets Down Spurs 127-100
In their 3rd matchup in twelve days, the Houston Rockets used fourteen players to take down the San Antonio Spurs 127-100.
Houston never trailed in this game as they put together their best effort on both sides of the ball this season.
Following a strong showing against New York on Monday, Fred VanVleet had the best game of his young season going for 21 points on 10-11 shooting.
VanVleet also added seven rebounds and a season-high ten assists. He did all this while playing just 25 minutes.
Like VanVleet, four of the five starters played 25 minutes or less thanks to the big lead that Houston had built.
The Rockets led 31-19 after the first quarter and at halftime that lead swelled to 63-38 in what could have been Houston’s best half of the season.
Up by 27 points with six and a half minutes left, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka cleared his bench.
Jalen Green was the one starter who did play more than 25 minutes (31) and he contributed a solid 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.
All five of Houston’s starters were above double figures as Jabari Smith Jr (12), Dillion Brooks (10), and Alperen Sengun (16) joined Green and VanVleet.
Off the bench, Jock Landle played a surprising 18 minutes and he made the most of it scoring 11 points including knocking down a three-pointer.
Reed Sheppard played the most minutes of his young NBA career after putting up seven points against the Knicks.
Sheppard had an all around solid game going for five points, two rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes.
12 out of the 14 players who got minutes on Wednesday found themselves in the score sheet in a dominant effort for the Rockets.
Houston never trailed in this game in what might have been the first time we saw a complete four-quarters of basketball from the Rockets.
