Rockets Comeback Falls Short Against Spurs

The Houston Rockets were down by as many as 22 points against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night.

Houston battled back to give themselves multiple opportunities to tie or take the lead but it just never happened.

The Rockets fell 109-106 dropping to 1-2 through the season’s first three games.

In an extreme tail of two quarters, Houston scored just ten points in the second frame being outscored 10-24.

Flash forward to the fourth quarter, the Rockets went on a 21-8 run to fuel a quarter in which Houston outscored the Spurs 37-22.

Unfortunately for the Rockets, the deficit was just too big to overcome in their second heartbreaking loss in the first three games.

The big kicker for the Rockets came with 22.8 to go in the game when the Rockets had a chance to tie the game before Jalen Green’s breakout pass hit off Cam Whitmore’s hands as he was leaking to a wide-open basket.

Whitmore was one of five Rockets in double figures led by Jalen Green who finished with 29 points.

Notably, Alperen Sengun was not one of them as he finished with just six points, five rebounds, and two assists.

For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama led the way with 29 points and seven rebounds followed by Jeremy Sochan with 17.

Tomorrow night, the Rockets will be back in action as they take on the same Spurs this time in Houston.
