Ranking Best Options For Chicago Bears With First Overall Pick In 2024 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears have been playing much better football over the last month or so. After looking like the worst team in football in September, the Bears are currently 7-9 after winning four out of five games.

Justin Fields has figured it out and this puts the Bears in an interesting position. After trading the No. 1 overall pick last season, Chicago gained the rights of the Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick this year. That is locked into the top spot once again.

This means that the Bears will have many options. In the beginning of October, the decision seemed clear. Now, with the emergence of Fields, there is a bit of a wrench in plans.

General Manager Ryan Poles has a decision to make this offseason and these three options are at the top of the list.

3. Trade The Pick

It was assumed that the Bears would have multiple picks in the top five. At one point early in the season, Chicago held the top two picks but obviously things have changed now with seven wins.

The need for quarterbacks is huge all around the league. Many teams will be vying for the next big thing under center and because of that, the Bears could receive a massive haul for the first-overall pick.

Of course, this depends on what the front office believes is best. Long story short, the top two options on this list will determine whether or not Poles and the Bears want to keep the pick.

2. Caleb Willams

Williams has been viewed as the consensus No. 1 pick in the draft, whether is be by the Bears or a team that trades up.

Bears’ fans started a “We want Fields” chant during their Week 17 victory. This was an attempt to persuade the front office to roll with their guy rather than roll the dice on a rookie. If the Bears go this route, there will be many teams interested in Fields.

Williams has a chance to be a star at the next level but there is one more option on the board that could fit better.

1. Marvin Harrison Jr.

This is a chance for the Bears to land a No. 1 receiver that could be the best in the league in two years. Harrison Jr. enters the league as one of the biggest prospects at his position in years.

The question is, will a team draft a wide receiver No. 1 overall? This has not happened since the New York Jets drafted Keyshawn Johnson in 1996.

Harrison Jr. has the makings of an elite talent at the next level. He is big, fast, athletic, agile. There is nothing that he can’t do at the position. Fields has done enough this season to show the Bears they might have something. Also, theft that Matt Eberflus is coming back means that Chicago could opt for Fields under center for one more year.

The presence of Harrison Jr. in the offense would help Fields right away. It would also take attention off Moore and Cole Kmet.

Bears, keep Fields around and create an elite duo on the outside with Harrison Jr. joining DJ Moore.
