Rangers Outfielder Robbie Grossman Claimed By Royals, Foscue To Be Recalled
Texas Rangers outfielder Robbie Grossman has been claimed by the Kansas City Royals after being placed on waivers by the Rangers earlier this week.
Grossman slashed .238/.336/.362 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI during inconsistent playing time with the Rangers. Initially starting with the White Sox in 2024, Texas acquired Grossman back on May 8th in exchange for pitching prospect Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa.
With a newfound empty slot on the roster, the Rangers are expected to recall Justin Foscue from AAA Round Rock.
Foscue has played seven games with the Rangers this season but will certainly get more playing time down the stretch as Texas shifts some of its focus toward younger players.
In the minors this season, Foscue is slashing .288/.429/.932 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 191 at-bats.
Unlike Robbie Grossman, Travis Jankowski who was also placed on waivers, was reportedly told that he will clear and remain with the Rangers for the rest of the season.
Jankowski is hitting just .200 with one home run this season but has seen lots of time as a defensive replacement including making an incredible game-saving home run robbery against the White Sox this week.
As we head toward the end of the season, the Rangers’ goals have shifted with the team sitting at just 63-72, ten games out of first place in the AL West.
Manager Bruce Bochy said he’s “excited” to see what young guys like Foscue can do with newfound opportunities as September callups approach.
