Rams Look to Trade Cooper Kupp
Cooper Kupp has been a great receiver for the Los Angeles Rams over the past 8 seasons, but it appears his time there may be finished.
“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp said. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”
Over his eight-season career with the Rams, Kupp had 634 receptions for 7,776 yards and 58 touchdowns. He was the best receiver on the team by far and his stats would be even more impressive if he had avoided injury.
In 2021, Kupp was the receiving triple crown winner by leading the NFL in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He was also named Super Bowl LVI MVP.
Health has been an issue for the now 31-year-old receiver, he has struggled with injury ever since his amazing 2021 season.
“2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career,” Kupp said. “Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come.”
There will be teams interested in his services, there are plenty of teams that need receivers. Teams that could show interest in him could be the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburg Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens to name a few that need a receiver. The Los Vegas Raiders also need receivers, but they don’t have a quarterback so I’m not sure he would want to go there.
He will be looking for a team where he believes he can compete for a championship. The former Super Bowl MVP still wants to play for a contender.
Money may be an issue for some teams. Kup’s 2025 salary calls for him to receive a $7.5 million roster bonus and a $12.5 million base salary. Kupp is also due $19.85 million in 2026. It’s safe to say that Kupp will increase his trade value if he is willing to renegotiate his contract according to CBS’s website.
This will be an interesting one to keep an eye on over the next few weeks. I don’t expect him to be on the market for a long time.
The Rams will take whatever package they think is the best, and it is never a bad thing to have teams competing against each other for a player.
So where do you think Kupp will play in 2025? Let me know in the comments.
