Raiders Officially Hire Pete Carroll as the Next Head Coach
The time has finally come and the Las Vegas Raiders have their next head coach. After seeing Ben Johnson pivot and land with the Chicago Bears, the Raiders pivoted to the next best option. They’ve named former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll as the next coach.
Carroll will be on the sidelines for the next three years and with the team having the option for a fourth year. He is a legendary coach and now joins a division that is known for its elite coaches. Carroll now joins Sean Payton, Andy Reid, and John Harbaugh. That’s a lot of accomplished coaches in one division. Overall this is a good move and he brings a lot to the table.
Carroll is Perfect Fit for this Club
Pete Carroll has lived and breathed football for his entire life. He has coached at the collegiate level, but most notably the NFL and with the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll was at the helm for the Seahawks starting in 2010 and his final year was in 2023. He helped turn the franchise around and ultimately compete for the Super Bowl.
Carroll had a very successful run with the USC Trojans and brought that to the Seahawks. In his tenure, he has made the playoffs ten out of fourteen seasons as the head coach. The Seahawks advanced to the divisional round seven times and won the NFC Championship twice. They won the Super Bowl, smoking the Broncos and having the Legion of Boom leading the way.
Carroll had a defense that could ball out and had many notable names on it. They were the best scoring defense for four consecutive seasons and helped the franchise reach back to back super bowls and have five 10+ win seasons in a row.
Carroll was a leader of men and those Seahawks teams were a force to be reckoned with. Now, it’s the Raiders turn to see that same type of success.
Time to Bring the Raiders Back From the Dead
The Raiders have had two winning seasons since reaching the Super Bowl in 2002. They’ve been stuck in football purgatory and they need to climb out of it.
Carroll has a lot of work to do, but has the tools to do it. The front office has a new shakeup towards it, with Tom Brady at the helm as an owner. There is new management in place and now Carroll gets to be the head coach.
The roster certainly needs additions, but it’s not an empty pit. Maxx Crosby, Christian Wilkins, Brock Bowers, and Jakobi Meyers help shape a core on either side of the ball. They need to add around it, but they also need to be led properly.
This is the fifth head coach inside this decade. Let’s hope the Raiders nailed it.
