Raiders’ Brock Bowers Wins AFC Rookie of the Month

The rookie of the race is in full swing and there are some really good candidates for the award. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels highlights the rookie class and Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is knocking on the door. One player that should be talked about more than he already is and that’s Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.

He is not a quarterback and usually that plays a factor, but Bowers is the real deal and has been worth every bit of that selection. While we aren’t necessarily talking awards, we are talking Rookie of the Month, where Bowers received those honors.

Bowers is Rookie of the Month for November

Thanksgiving there was a lot to be thankful for and if you are the Raiders you are extra thankful for Bowers. With no more Davante Adams, Bowers becomes the focal point of the offense and certainly has been. Bowers is a good route runner and if the ball is thrown his way, he will go up and grab it. It’s having the mantra of “Bowers is down there somewhere” needs to be utilized more often than not. Bowers is not only the best player on the Raiders, but also the top rookie in the AFC.

Bowers finished the month with 32 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Bowers was silenced in two of the four games, but the games where he was fed the ball he made enormous impacts. His first big game was against the Miami Dolphins, where he eclipsed 126 yards and one touchdown. To do that against what’s been a good pass defense is huge.

Bowers was also great against the Kansas City Chiefs, where they almost pulled off the upset. After seeing the Raiders offense shutdown for the first half of the game, Bowers came alive and made great catches while stretching the field. Bowers finished that game with 140 yards, which was the most yards he’s had in a single game this season for himself.

The Raiders offense has been a mixed bag. The run game is horrid, but they’ve shown flashes in the pass game. They certainly have weapons and if you get them the ball, good things will happen . For Bowers, he did that and more and certainly deserved Rookie of the Month honors.

The Raiders have a gem in Bowers and if they can draft the right quarterback this upcoming draft, the offense can be more potent.
