Powerhouse Hobbs Aims for Jon Moxley’s AEW Title
Powerhouse Hobbs isn’t afraid of AEW World champion Jon Moxley, and he proved it last night on Collision.
“I’ve been shot, stabbed, and left for dead,” Hobbs said.
Hobbs marched to the ring during a huge brawl that took place after Ring Of Honor champion Chris Jericho beat Dax Harwood in the main event.
“The Rated-R Superstar” Cope stood tall after that brawl, only to be attacked by Moxley. Hobbs saved Cope from a neck injury.
Hobbs will challenge for Moxley’s title on Wednesday’s Dynamite, which will take place in the champ’s hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cope won the opener over Big Bill with the Moxley finish (elbow strikes and a sleeper). Cope is also gunning for a shot at the World title.
DEATH RIDERS DOMINATE
The other Death Riders had great success in the ring. PAC won a high-flying battle with Komander. PAC put his knees up on a 450 splash and locked on the Brutalizer for the submission win.
Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated The Outrunners with the old “Rocket Launcher” finisher popularized by The Midnight Express and The Fantastics.
FALL OF THE HOUSE OF BLACK
Brody King squashed Trevor Blackwell. After the match, Cope told him and Julia Hart that they didn’t need to be part of the House of Black.
Will Ospreay said the same thing to Buddy Matthews on Dynamite.
TNT champion Daniel Garcia defeated Katsuyori Shibata with a jackknife pin. Shibata shook the champion’s hand after the match.
UPCOMING BOUTS
MVP will wrestle for the first time in AEW on this Wednesday’s Dynamite. He will join Hurt Syndicate members Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin against Private Party & Mark Briscoe.
On next week’s Collision, “Hangman” Adam Page will face Christopher Daniels in a Texas Death match. Daniels is beginning his 32nd year as a pro wrestler.
