White Sox Minor League Player of the Week (July 8-14): Mario Camilletti

It was not the farm system’s finest week, as the 3-2 ACL White Sox were the only team that finished better than .500. However, there were quite a few positive developments, and outfielder Mario Camilletti shined in his first week with the Barons. Camilletti made his Double-A debut on Wednesday, and he could hardly be kept off base at the new level.

Phil Fox is a smaller right-handed relief pitcher who backs a big and unique fastball.

White Sox select C Jackson Appel in the sixth round of the 2024 draft (No. 169 overall)

Jackson Appel brings defense first, bat-to-ball skills second, as a master handler of a pitching staff.

White Sox select SS Sam Antonacci in the fifth round of the 2024 draft (No. 140 overall)

Another bit of a stretch pick for the White Sox, San Antonacci follows the club’s trend of selecting strong bat-to-ball hitters.

White Sox select OF Casey Saucke in the fourth round of the 2024 draft (No. 107 overall)

Casey Saucke was regarded as the best position player on the U. of Virginia club in 2024, bringing great bat speed to the plate.

White Sox select OF Nick McLain in the third round of the 2024 draft (No. 78 overall)

Yet again, the White Sox are selecting in defiance of the MLB braintrust, using a No. 78 pick on the No. 129 prospect. Given his pedigree (brother of Reds infielder Matt McLain, you might be willing to grant the White Sox making a stretch.
