Predicting the College Football Playoff Bracket- Week 14

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel throws the ball during the Oregon Ducks’ Spring Game Saturday, April 27. 2024 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.
As Kirby Smart has mentioned numerous times, nobody truly knows what the College Football Playoff values when looking at resumes. If you look back at the previous College Football Playoff polls, it looks like they are just looking strictly at wins and losses. Will they continue that when it comes time to finalize the playoff match-ups? Only time will tell.
Full disclosure: This is not my personal picks, but rather what I think the committee do Tuesday night.
1st Round Byes
  1.  Oregon (11-0): The only obvious choice to be the 1 seed going into the final week of the regular season
  2. Texas (10-1): The Longhorns record looks impressive, but UMass has played more SEC teams with a winning record than Texas has this season.
  3. Miami (10-1): Miami bounced back against Wake Forest after losing at Georgia Tech. All they have to do is beat Syracuse and clinch an appearance against SMU in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte.
  4. Boise State (10-1): With all of the chaos that happened in the Big 12 (Colorado and BYU lost last Saturday), Boise has become the forth highest ranked projected conference champion.

1st Round Matchups:

(12) SMU @ (5) Ohio State- It’s tough to imagine the ACC not getting two teams in.

(11) Indiana @ (6) Georgia- Indiana drops considerably after losing to OSU. Now they get the Georgia Bulldogs, who have won two of the last three CFPs.

(10) Tennessee @ (7) Penn State- Maybe the only SEC team with a chance at the playoff that Penn State has a chance at beating.

(9) Arizona State @ (8) Notre Dame- Arizona State may be the best team in the Big 12, but they are rewarded with a trip to South Bend to play a Notre Dame team that is rolling against teams they should beat.
