No Remorse: MJF Wins AEW International Title at Dynamite 250
When you’re trying to win the AEW International championship, it helps not to have a conscience.
MJF defeated Will Ospreay in a nearly 60-minute match to win the belt on the 250th episode of AEW Dynamite last night.
As the time limit approached, Ospreay called for the Tiger Driver 98. That’s a double-underhook piledriver, and Ospreay ultimately didn’t deliver the move because it’s too dangerous for the opponent.
MJF, who has often called himself The Devil, did not hesitate to knock out Ospreay with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to win the title at the 59:58 mark.
Mercedes Mone successfully defended her TBS championship with a win over the much larger “Native Beast” Nyla Rose.
Mone used the “Bank Statement” crossface, now called the Statement Maker, to force Rose to submit.
WHO’S TIMELESS?
Mariah May came to the ring dressed up as her former mother figure, “Timeless” Toni Storm. May said she strung Storm along for a long time before viciously attacking the AEW women’s champion.
May said AEW was “All About Mariah,” punctuating the comparison to the 1950 movie “All About Eve.”
BLOOD & GUTS
The main event turned into a preview of next week’s War Games-style Blood & Guts match. Swerve Strickland battled Kazuchika Okada, but The Elite caused a disqualification and all of the other teammates battled in the ring.
At the beginning of the night, Swerve and Mark Briscoe were short by three partners, but The Acclaimed and Darby Allin filled those spots. Allin even descended from the ceiling like his mentor, Sting.
In addition to Blood & Guts, next week will feature Chris Jericho vs. Minoru Suzuki in a battle of wrestling legends.
