No. 1 Overall Recruit Bryce Underwood Flips Commitment To Michigan
Michigan Football might be all the way back.
The Wolverines are in a down year after winning the National Championship last season. The team lost plenty of production on both sides of the ball, including quarterback J.J. McCarthy. And of course, Jim Harbaugh decided to return to the NFL to coach the Los Angeles Chargers.
This season, Michigan has displayed a decent defense and some semblance of a run game. The problem is, there is no quarterback on the team that can move the football.
That problem is now over as Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2025, has flipped his commitment from LSU and decided to play for Michigan.
Underwood, who is a native of Belleville, MI, committed to LSU on Jan. 6. New Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore did not give up hope that he could persuade the hometown kid to come to Ann Arbor. Along with the allure of playing for the Wolverines, money talks in this new-age of NIL in college football.
It has been reported that Underwood was offered an NIL deal upwards of eight figures to play for Michigan. On3 reported that Underwood could receive $10.5 million once he comes to Michigan.
Underwood is currently playing out his final season at Belleville, which is under 30 minutes from Michigan Stadium.
According to ESPN, Underwood is one of four five-stars to commit to Michigan since 2006. This was led by Rashan Gary in 2016, who was also the nation’s top player. Jabrill Peppers in 2014 and Dax Hill in 2019 were also five stars.
It has been a difficult first year for Moore on the sidelines but he just landed the biggest fish possible in the 2025 class. After a season played without the presence of a quarterback, Michigan will bring in what could be a program-changing player right away.
