Why does the Vibe of the 2024 Cleveland Browns feel different?
On Sunday September 8th ,2024, the Cleveland Browns start their 2024 regular season hosting the Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The game has a primetime 4:25 pm kickoff on the Fox Network. This will be a nationally televised game with the broadcasting debut of NFL legendary quarterback Tom Brady. Browns fans would think that the team has arrived with a showcased nationally televised season opener. But for some reason the feels and the vibe seem off for Browns fans. And there are legitimate reasons for that.
For almost two decades since the beginning of the expansion era Browns, Cleveland Browns fans have desired stability and continuity. This will be the 5th season for general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski. There is no buzz with a new coach and GM. There is no drama or excitement of a high draft pick either. Also, Browns fans haven’t seen the starters play yet this season.
The Cleveland Browns took the strategic approach of resting and sitting almost all the veteran starters and impact players in the preseason. This was given much criticism by local media and podcasters. The Browns felt that the overall health of the team was more important than getting preseason game reps. This was because of the injury situation that was in 2023 and that carried over into 2024 training camp. It now appears that the Browns are getting healthy and all starters for both offense and defense will be available for the season opener.
With the 2024 season approaching the leadership of the Cleveland Browns do not give much information regarding the team in interviews. The hot take quote or sound byte will not come out of the mouths of either Berry or Stefanski. It’s kind of boring to fans and the local sports media. But boring can be good, when you win consistently. And when that starts September 8th, the vibe will change for the better.
