On Saturday October 12th ,2024, at 7:30 pm eastern time. The second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Eugene Oregon to take on the 3rd ranked Oregon Ducks. This is by far the biggest matchup in the 2024 college football season. This is the first game between two teams ranked in the top 5 of the AP Top 25. In big games the big players always make a big difference. Which Ohio State Buckeye will make that difference?

Both Ohio State and Oregon are undefeated with 5-0 records. The Buckeyes essentially steamrolled their first five opponents this season. This will be their first real test of the 2024 season. And it will be the first test of quarterback Will Howard. Howard transferred from Kansas State and is well experienced in college football. He should be able to handle the magnitude of this game. His true freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith maybe another story.

Jeremiah Smith is a true freshman for the Ohio State Buckeyes and has already made an impact for the  team this season. This is the biggest game of his young career. How will he react to the moment? His exceptional athleticism makes him an elite wide receiver in college football. He is on a trajectory to be a top 5 NFL Draft pick in the future. I think he will have a good game. And he will impress the national television audience. Don’t forget that the Buckeyes defense has impact players too.

Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs was a transfer from Alabama and has been an excellent addition to this Ohio State defense in 2024. Downs along with safety Sonny Styles has proven to be one of the best secondaries in college football. With the hope of the offense complimenting the defense against the Oregon Ducks. Every one of the impact players for Ohio State needs to step up and play a big game, in this early season’s biggest moment thus far.
