Veterans Who The Packers Have Moved On From Recently
The Green Bay Packers have truly entered into a new era. That is evidenced by Jordan Love’s outstanding 2023 numbers. Love is clearly the leader of the Pack now. He helped take the youngest team in the league all the way to the divisional round, and they were 15 minutes away from an NFC Championship Game appearance. All of that happened in just Love’s first season as Green Bay’s starter.
The present and future are both extremely bright in Green Bay. But in order to set the Packers up for this success, they had to get rid of some of their most beloved players from the most recent era. Here are some of the big names they had to move on from.
QB Aaron Rodgers
Four-time MVP. Super Bowl champion. Highest passer rating in NFL history. The most prolific touchdown passer in Packers’ history. Arguably the greatest quarterback of all time. Losing Aaron Rodgers was a gut punch to a lot of fans. But before leaving for New York, he left the team with a parting gift…elite Jordan Love.
LT David Bakhtiari
After a devastating last few seasons dealing with knee issues, David Bakhtiari and the Packers parted ways after 11 years this offseason. Bakhtiari was arguably the best left tackle in the league before his knee injuries. He made five All-Pro teams and was a franchise cornerstone for over a decade.
WR Davante Adams
Green Bay traded Adams in 2022 after a fantastic eight seasons in Green Bay. He was named to five Pro Bowls and helped set himself up for a Hall-of-Fame career. He is top-five in nearly every major Green Bay receiving category.
RB Aaron Jones
This offseason, the Packers shockingly released the Pro Bowl back, who would go on to sign with the rival Vikings. He was a beloved figure in Green Bay during his seven years as a Packer and is top-five in almost every major rushing category. He will be in the Packers Hall of Fame when his career is over.
WR Randall Cobb
After joining the Packers again in 2021, Cobb would go on to play two more seasons in Green Bay to make it a total of 10 as a Packer. The former Pro-Bowler had a unique rapport with Aaron Rodgers, much like Adams, and that is what made him such a dangerous receiver during his prime. He would go on to join Rodgers with the Jets.
K Mason Crosby
There is no greater special teams player in the history of the Green Bay Packers than Mason Crosby. He is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer (1,918). That’s to be expected when a kicker plays for one franchise for 16 seasons. Crosby and Green Bay parted ways prior to 2023.
Other Notable Players That Green Bay Has Parted Ways With In Recent Years:
