Turnovers Thwart Browns in loss to Chiefs, 21-7

On Sunday December 15th the 3-10 Cleveland Browns hosted the 12-1 defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs at Huntington Bank Field in downtown Cleveland Ohio. Despite the difference in the teams’ records, the Chiefs were a 4-point favorite in the game. The Browns were hoping for an upset win in an otherwise disappointing season. But the Cleveland Browns were their own worst enemy that Sunday afternoon.

After an early Cleveland Browns defensive stop, Cleveland punt returner James Proche II fumbled on the return and Kansas City recovered. The Kansas City Chiefs quickly turned the turnover into a touchdown. That pretty much set the tone for the game. The Cleveland Browns committed a total of 6 turnovers that day. Jameis Winston threw 3 interceptions. Dorian Thomson-Robinson threw one interception in relief of Winston. And Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb lost a fumble. It was uncharacteristic for Chubb to fumble. With the 6 turnovers the Browns lost the game 21-14. It is fortunate that they only lost the game by 14 points. Turnovers were not the only factor in this game, injuries were as well.

Nick Chubb sustained a season ending broken foot injury. Browns defensive back left the game due to a concussion. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had to be relieved by Carson Wentz because of a high ankle sprain. He is week to week and that could have playoff implications.

Up next for the 3-11 Browns is a trip to Cincinnati Ohio to play the 6-8 Bengals on Sunday December 21st at 1 pm eastern time at Paycor Stadium. The Best the Browns can do is win 6 games this season. Some think it may be better for them to lose the last three games for a better draft position. I believe that losing breeds losing. And Cleveland Browns fans are sick of losing.
