Top Draft Prospect Cooper DeJean Cleared For Football Activities

An interesting development has rolled across the NFL landscape over the last 24 hours. One of the best overall players in the NFL Draft this year in defensive back and punt returner Cooper DeJean, who could be on the Packers’ radar.

Recently, according to Adam Schefter, DeJean and his camp sent a letter out to all 32 NFL teams saying that he has been cleared to participate in all football-related activities. The Iowa Hawkeye broke his fibula in November. Now healthy, he will hold an individual workout on April 8th at Iowa for scouts and NFL personnel. It is said that he will have no restraints.

DeJean is one of the best athletes and playmakers in this draft. As it was previously stated, the All-American can affect the game in multiple ways. He recorded a career-best 75 total tackles in 2022 as a cornerback and/or safety. Over his last two seasons, he intercepted the opposing quarterback seven times. In addition to his defensive abilities, he is a dangerous punt returner. Over the last two seasons at Iowa, he has averaged over 13.0 yards per punt return. He also has demonstrated the ability to take punts back to the house.

The fact that he is healthy now is a very big deal. With no restraints, NFL eyes can see him at his best. Look for him to be targeted in the first round of the draft by a lot of teams. One of those teams should be the Packers, especially considering they have a need at safety, which was another position that DeJean played at Iowa.
