The Packers Should Trade For Tee Higgins

Talented 1,000-yard wide receiver Tee Higgins has recently requested a trade after being franchise-tagged by the Cincinnati Bengals. A team that certainly wouldn’t mind his services has to be the Green Bay Packers. Still just 25 years of age, Higgins is one of the best, young receivers in football and is looking to join a better situation. Here is why Green Bay makes sense as a destination:

Green Bay Could Use A Top WR

The Packers currently have a young, yet deep wide receiver core. No wide receiver is older than 25 on the roster. However, they have a lot of talent. Jayden Reed, a rookie in 2023, led the team in receiving. Romeo Doubs set career-highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Rookie Dontayvion Wicks poured nearly 40 catches despite being WR4. Christian Watson, despite his injury woes, is still one of the more talented deep threats in football (15.0 YPC). Bo Melton, an undrafted, second-year wide receiver in 2023, ended the regular season with a bang as he logged 16 receptions for 218 receiving yards and a touchdown in four games.

But again, none of these players are No. 1 receivers. They all have unique skills, but they won’t catch 100 balls for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns. Higgins is capable of that.

Higgins Is Super Productive

The former Clemson star has had two 1,000-yard seasons in his first four NFL seasons. He’s also recorded 65 or more receptions in three of his first four seasons. On a team with Ja’Marr Chase, for Higgins to put up those kinds of numbers is really spectacular. He has put up elite WR2 numbers and is now ready to be a No. 1 option somewhere. Why not bring him to Green Bay with Jordan Love, Josh Jacobs, and a host of young talent? It would be a win-now move for a team ready to go win a Super Bowl in 2024.
