The Browns Win for Jim, Beat the Ravens 29-24

On Sunday the Cleveland Browns hosted the division rival Baltimore Ravens at Huntington Bank Field. Baltimore had a 5-2 record and was tied for 1st place in the AFC North Division with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns were 1-6 and were trying to end a 5-game losing streak. And they were also trying to get their season back on track. Last week they lost quarterback Deshaun Watson for the season with an Achilles injury. Former number 1 overall pick Jameis Winston got the start for the Browns at quarterback. Also, the Browns had their offensive line at it’s healthiest the entire 2024 season for this game. Second year player offensive tackle Dewand Jones got the start at left tackle.

It was also an emotional day for the Cleveland Browns and their fans. The day before the game longtime radio announcer Jim Donovan passed away. In lieu of pregame player introductions, a video tribute to Jim Donovan was played on the jumbotron scoreboard and was followed with a moment of silence.  The feeling in the air at Huntington Bank Field was to get a win for Jim. And that is exactly what the Browns did.

Jameis Winston had a career game going 27 for 41, for 334 yards,3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. His quarterback rating for the game was 115.3. Nick Chubb continues to work his way back with 16 rushes for 52 yards. And the Browns defense held Baltimore running back Derrick Henry to 11 rushing attempts for 73 yards, and 1 touchdown. The Browns defense was able to stop Baltimore from scoring in the last minute of the game to secure the win with a 29-24 score. They did this despite losing corner back Denzel Ward to a concussion and having linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah carted off the field with a neck injury. He was hospitalized and we all hope that he gets well soon. It was an emotional day and an emotional win. It was a win for Jim!
