Politicians play politics, while the Browns Owner does business

On October 29th, the Cleveland Browns announced their plan to renovate and expand their practice facility in Berea Ohio. This was released while the City of Cleveland released renderings of a new domed stadium located where the current Burke Lakefront Airport sits. This is another public relations counter punch to the Browns relocating their new indoor stadium project in Brookpark Ohio. Again, this is an exercise of political futility by local politicians.

The plan that was released by the Haslam Sports Group of the practice facility is a $200 million 16-acre project in the neighborhood of Berea Ohio. The Browns are targeted the completion of this project by 2027. This along with Brookpark Dome Stadium project would inject close to $4 billion dollars of development for the Berea and Brookpark areas, which is located 10 miles south of downtown Cleveland Ohio. The city of Cleveland is currently trying to sue the Browns by invoking the Art Modell relocation law. And renderings were released of a dome stadium at the site of Burke Lakefront Airport. However, the City of Cleveland has no control of that land and the airport. That would be the FAA who would control that. And that land will not be available for another 10 years. This was another stunt by local politicians that did nothing for decades about the lakefront in downtown Cleveland.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns ownership is preparing to close on the land purchase in Brookpark Ohio by the end of the year. Groundbreaking can be expected by spring of 2025 and a targeted completion of opening day 2029. As much as some Browns fans would like the Cleveland Browns to continue to play in downtown Cleveland. It appears that the move is inevitable. The one constant in life is change, we might as well embrace it and accept it. It might turn out better than you think!
