The NFL will be playing it’s first-ever game in Brazil this season. Specifically, the game will take place in Sao Paulo. The league knows one of the teams that will be playing in the game. That team is the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are now waiting on the league to decide their opponent.

But, they will not need to wait much longer. According to Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, the league is deciding between the Packers and the Cleveland Browns as to which of them will face the Eagles in South America this Fall. Murphy also said in his meeting with reporters at the league’s annual meetings in Orlando this week that he expects an answer from the league within the week.

If Green Bay is chosen for the NFL’s debut in Brazil, it will be their first time playing in an international game since they went to London, England in Week 5 of the 2022 regular season to face the New York Giants. It would be the second-ever regular season international game for the Packers, in addition to them playing in three international preseason games. The latest international preseason game came in Winnipeg in 2019 vs the Raiders.

It would be a wise move by the NFL to give the Packers this opportunity to play in Brazil, especially from a marketing perspective. They aren’t just one of the biggest brands in the league. They are one of the biggest brands in all of sports. Packers fans may want to consider packing for a much warmer climate this Fall if they get positive news this week.
