Packers GM In Attendance At Missouri’s Pro Day
It’s been a busy week for Packers GM Brian Gutekunst. On Wednesday, he showed up at Alabama‘s Pro Day. The following day, he attended Notre Dame‘s Pro Day. Then on Friday, Gutekunst was spotted in Columbia at Missouri‘s Pro Day. He’s seen a lot of talented prospects in just a few days as he and the Packers gear up for April’s draft.
With the team in need of players at running back, safety, linebacker, and offensive line, it makes sense that Gutekust would be at Missouri’s Pro Day. The talent on that roster showed up big-time this season.
Running back Cody Schrader was one of the best in America last season. The former transfer from Truman State rushed for 1,627 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was arguably the most valuable offensive player in the SEC a season ago. With Green Bay needing a long-term option behind All-Pro free agent signee Josh Jacobs, Schrader could be the player Matt LaFleur is looking for.
The Tigers also have some very impressive defensive prospects. Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and safety J.C. Carlies were notable contributors, as well as First-Team All-SEC defensive end Darius Robinson.
It is very intriguing that Gutekunst chose to show up at Missouri’s Pro Day rather than in Ann Arbor for Michigan’s, which took place on the same day. This doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be interested in drafting a running back like Michigan’s Blake Corum. But there are clearly some intriguing prospects at Missouri that have Gutekunst’s attention. Time will tell to see where Gutekunst’s mind is at when it comes to selecting one or more than one of these impressive names.
