Optimism from Browns OTA’s
This week in Berea Ohio, the Cleveland Browns held their first organized team activities of the off season. The Browns are coming off a successful 2023 playoff season with an 11-6 record. The Browns accomplished this despite having 26% of their salary cap on injured reserve. One key player that ended 2023 on injured reserve was franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Watson was placed on injured reserve with a fractured socket in his throwing shoulder. This happened after his best performance as a Cleveland Brown. In week 10 of the 2023 season, Watson led the Browns to a 14-point 4th quarter comeback against the division rival Baltimore Ravens. The Browns won the game by a final score of 33-31. Watson went 14-14 in the second half and finished the game with 213 passing yards. He accomplished that with a high ankle sprain and the shoulder fracture. Browns fans are hoping that not only will Deshaun Watson heal from his injuries, but they also want him to return to the form he had in Houston.
To help alleviate fans concerns, the Cleveland Browns tweeted video from this week’s OTA’s of Deshaun Watson throwing to Browns wide receivers.

Watson looked fine throwing the ball. He also will not be throwing on consecutive days either. When Watson spoke to the media, he explained that he is on schedule with his rehab program, and he is following the program. Honestly, it is the month of May and there is no need to rush his return. The Cleveland Browns are essentially 2 months away from opening training camp at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. And they are 109 days away from opening the season at home against the Dallas Cowboys. By all indications Deshaun Watson should be ready by September 8th. And Cleveland Browns fans will be ready too.
