On Saturday September 20 ,2024, at noon eastern time the 3rd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will be hosting the Marshall Thundering Herd for a week 4 college football matchup. The game will be broadcasted nationally on the Fox Network. Ohio State is 2-0 and coming off a bye week. Marshall is 1-1 and lost to Virginia Tech on September 7th by a score of 31-14. Ohio State is a heavy favorite going into this game.

As I write this article, the Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked 3rd in the country and are 40.5-point favorites for Saturday’s game. This is the 3rd MAC team in a row that Ohio State will play in this young 2024 season. And for all intents and purposes, Ohio State is expected to win again in a blowout. However, Ohio State Buckeye fans can and will still tune in to watch this game. And there are reasons to watch.

Ohio State fans will want to see the further development of freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and the chemistry with quarterback Will Howard. Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has been masterful on his use of Howard and Smith. Along with running back TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State averaged over 50 points a game in 2024. The Buckeyes defense give reasons to watch as well.

Buckeye’s safety Caleb Downs has been outstanding in the first two games of the season. He was a transfer from Alabama. And gives Buckeye’s fans further hope of better things to come this season. This game against Marshall will be a final tune up before Ohio State starts conference play.

The following week Ohio State will travel to Michigan State to begin their conference schedule. Ohio State fans will hope that the Buckeyes won’t look ahead of Saturday’s game against Marshall. If Ohio State wants to contend for a National Championship, they certainly won’t fall for a trap game.
