Off the Field Stars: Jalen Hurts, Anthony Richardson Lend a Hand

The NFL offseason can sometimes be a scary sight as the athletes have a good amount of free time on their hands, putting some individuals in tough situations. A few years ago, I remember opening Twitter and reading about the tragic loss of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, and was completely devastated to hear the news. Last season, I opened up Twitter and was surrounded with a video of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen interacting with two young fans, making the one ‘girl fan’ cry because of just how excited she was to finally meet her favorite quarterback.

This time around when I opened the app, I was presented with two outstanding posts. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts paid the entire funeral expenses of a young man named Jarvon Coles, who was a senior linebacker at North Shore in Houston. Coles was tragically shot and killed at a party earlier this month and had aspirations to reach the collegiate level.

While this is an extremely sad situation, it is always nice to read about individuals like Hurts who just do things out of the kindness of their heart. Hurts has always been a class act and this just adds another layer to his already stellar role model attribute.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson displayed his kindness as well when he helped a stranger with a tire blowout on I-65. According to Parker, the stranger whose car had the tire blowout, Richardson was the only man who had the decency to pull over and help.

Kudos to Hurts and Richardson for going above and beyond and showing young fans what it is like to be a helpful and caring person. All three of the NFL athletes I mentioned in this article are quarterbacks, leaders of their football team.

These are precisely the kind of role models you want in your team’s locker room. As I look forward to more positive stories on social media in the coming months, it is heartwarming to see that humanity and society are still guided by a few good people, proving that not everyone is a bad apple.
